Good morning from the west coast of North America. If nothing unplanned happens today, I may get to play Gal Civ!!!

Nastavnik, thanks for the crippling win submission. Only go back if you feel like depositing terror stars on their doorstep or something. .

Go RDG-04!!!

I have another one in the way Ric!
I finally gave up going back to the previous game: I was afraid they might have intercepted ours communications here and wouldn't believe me when I told them that the big balls in orbit around their stars where harmless -- just doing scientific research...

I hope the inactivity here means everyone is having a good weekend

#855  by Citizen Matthew Downie - 3/7/2004 9:02:30 AM

In my case, the inactivity meant my computer was up on a radiator drying out after a window-cleaning accident. Amazingly, no permanent damage was done.

Citizen Greldon - 3/6/2004 1:30:27 PM Go RDG-04!!! Absolutely!

I reckon 900,000 of our points are yours, and 1,320,000 are Lothmorg's. If the two of you had formed your own Clone Wars alliance, you'd be in roughly equal first place with the remainder of RDG-04 and we'd both be ahead of the TriForces.

For the RDG-4 team, a detailed tally of scores by RDG-4 players in the first week of the Clone War is up in the "The RDG-04 Command Nexus" forum at http://diplomats.galciv.org/forum/index.php Link

For RDG-04 players who don't yet have access to be able to read bulletins in the "The RDG-04 Command Nexus" forum (moderated by Spellforce and Theoden of Rohan), just create a new account at http://diplomats.galciv.org/forum/ Link and send email to spellforce@galciv.org Email to have Spellforce enable access to that board for you.

Hi all. Dropped another 60k gig maso into the clone war score and FotR metaverse score, where we are number one and number two respectively. Not bad for some old wizards. .

Just finished another crippling .
Not so old wizzards after all

However there is something in the scoring that I don't get: how could I get a better score for a medium crippling alliance vic, than for a medium maso military victory? And this alliance vic awarded me 13k more points than my last one, 2 days ago! In this one it was a broader alliance, maybe that helped, but that looks a bit too much for a score boost I think.
However this last game was under the latest AP build, the other one under the former one. Has anyone else of you noticed such increases?

Well for now, I'll just go to sleep (1:58am ) and keep that "I didn't know I was that good" good-feeling .
After all, indulgences are what makes life worth living!

Haven't been playing AP so I can't be sure, but that might explain it. Score tends to be higher if you play long enough to research most of the techs and get your population level up, but a 50% increase in score for the same conditions is pretty extreme.

A funny thing: you are penalized to end the game before 2190. The score will double if you end after 2190.

Really? What a stupid rule.

Seekers of the Ring:

I am running a training day game as the next RB succession game. The game is designed for folks who are looking to make the jump to Painful and beyond. Check out my thread over on the general forum.

Thanks.

I think I never paid attention to that screen!
I have a lot of work this week, again . And I need to make a complete reinstall on my computer. I installed a driver for a wireless network, that caused a crash-reboot. Since them the computer keeps rebooting at any given time, for no apparent reason. And java scripts in IE or Netscape do not work anymore, so internet is rather unfriendly now. But I hate to reinstall! So I guess no gaming this saturday
But untill then I still hope to finish another medium: it is necessary to avoid losing momentum in the fight against Yor & co

#868  by Citizen musicfan55 - 3/9/2004 12:15:33 PM

Nastavnik, glad you got that point boost. It might take some of the sting out of doing the reinstall. I just finished changing a dying hard drive (kept spontaneously defragmenting and the scan disk kept finding bad sectors).

Just backup all the drivers on a CD. Then make sure to take some deep breaths and do some stretching while reinstalling and updating windows and ms office.

Let me know if Gal Civ works even better because I have not done a reinstall of Windows ME on my machine for 14 months and it needs it. I have trouble starting a new game because about half the time it crashes during the video immediately after you enter your settings to start a new game. Once the game starts, it is pretty darn stable (better than 1.10 for example). That's one reason I haven't upgraded - because it probably means a reinstall.

So, as one former US president used to say, "I feel your pain."

Thanks for the advice Ric. I'll gather all my patience and good will and prepare myself for that task this week end.

So far I've had no problems with galciv. Almost never a ctd (except if caused by some game related bug clearly identified: TS, minicargos, etc) and every thing works fine (as fine as it can be under microsoft).

"So, as one former US president used to say, "I feel your pain." "
I guess many of them might have said that. And often they would be the main source of that pain, like nowadays...
But it sure does apply to this case too!

#870  by Citizen Matthew Downie - 3/9/2004 3:32:44 PM

It was Clinton. "I feel your pain, and, when possible, my interns."
I played again and put myself back in the top 10. It won't last, not with Lothmorg only a few thousand below me, so I'd better enjoy it while it lasts.
the fight against Yor & co

Remember, this is the Fellowship, not the Guardians. They may take great pleasure in cruelty to Yor, but here in the Fellowship, we practise tolerance. And, when the time comes to exterminate the Yor, we do it with a tear in one eye, and we recycle the bits afterwards.

Oh, we show a little compassion sometimes...for example, I ended their painful existence last night without making them suffer at all! When the Terror Star tore their star systems apart, it was very quick and painful...umm...er...I mean painless!
