I think you'll like the full monty better (two new races). Play AP. It's really the same as GC, but it has the extra stuff. Be sure to get it all patched-up after installing it. Use the Star Dock update program to retrieve your patches (not all of them are listed at thier downloads page).

Woops, no they really don't move diagonal very well... it's like they have minds of thier own when on auto-pilot, lol. But yes, diagonal movement is possible.

Thanks Chip. I was clever enough to use the Star Dock to update with the latest patches.

Now, back to the embarrassing question... I'm looking at my keyboard... which keys are used to move diagonal?

#53  by Citizen Chippoka - 1/1/2005 11:25:22 AM

I use a mouse... but key... looking..

top left diagonal route... key pad 7.

Ah... well if you can move ships with the mouse, that's my ticket. I'll figure that out.

Thanks.

And uhhh... feel free to move this elementary discussion to get the "real" FAQs.

I bought the game pre-owned from a local video game store, but I can't install it, because I have an incorrect registration and serial number. How can I get the correct info so that I can play the game???

There should be a CD-Key at the back of the CD-Jewl case or on the manual perhaps on the box but it's a sticker... make sure you are keeping in mind that the S/N is CaSe sEnsiTive.
If it still does not work the best thing to do would be to go to the vidio game store and ask if they knew who took it in and if you could contact the fellow to see if he included the S/N [of course make sure its not there before asking].

Hope that helps.

Q: Which political parties perform best? Which bonuses?

I'm no expert, but I usually end up taking either +5% Planet Quality or +2 Speed among the bonuses.

Depends on who you ask. I use Reasearch Inc w/ Diplo and Research bonuses.

Q: Which political parties perform best? Which bonuses?

If you're going for Diplomacy and no war then choose a party with diplomatic and research bonuses
If you want to go to war then choose the war party... but I personally if I was going to war or either way ....i'd choose the Economic bonuses

my faq, dunno if its been asked bfore, but here goes.

What is the differnece between economic bonus(through mining, tech, anomaly, etc) and an interest rate bonus(usually through that corrupt dealie event) as they both have the same effect of raising income taxes. Also, how does creativity, luck and courage figure into gameplay?

Creativity - I believe it has something to do with research breakthroughs, and perhaps early research?

Courage - Probably ties in with Soldiering bonuses?
Luck- Gives you cool events like precursur ships?

Interest Rates, probably just increase the percentage of your economic % percentage .... power or something to that affect. I guess if Im not clear enough someone can help this guy. I'm half guessing and half not... hopefully I got some of this right.

I think that Interest rates are linked with extra cost for rush building.

Only sounds logical...

Hey! I've been playing this great game recently, and I've noticed on a couple of websites, a particular glitch that is supposed to give you a bunch of money/reverse cash flow.
It said to have a planet begin building a Colony Ship.
When it only has 2 or 3 months left, it says to click purchase, then choose the scout ship, choose the top payment option then Accept.
This didn't work for me.
I ask because I am having a lot of trouble keeping a positive balance.
I do not purchase anything, I let it build normally, and I try to build economy+ buildings before anything else to increase my revenue.
So any tips for the glitch, or just general financial help would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure, but the glitch could have been patched. BTW, have you looked in the strategy forum?

Not yet. I'm new to this site, and haven't been through it all yet. I'll check it out though. Thanks.

I didn't see anything about the glitch, but I did find some tips on managing my economy better.

Can someone please explain what the exact effects of starship quality bonuses are? I build shipyards & foundries when I'm at war, yet I don't notice differences in my ship's performances or stats.

I am missing something or are starship quality improvements ineffectual?

A little late, but that's what I found.

When you mine a military ressource and gane 5% military boost, that gives you 5% for defense and 5% for your attack ability.

Both defence and attack ability operate on your ships basic values.

Unfortunately the outcome is always rounded down. e.g. when your ship has a basic defence value of 5 you need to have a boost of 20% before you can see anything (i.e. your new value is 6). With 19% it's still 5!

It is the very same for all kind of abilities and calculations. It's usually applied to the base value and it is always rounded down.
