Quite certain. There are at least two neutral civs in my current game sporting them, one of them being the Carinoids who are always neutral.

The are no good-aligned civs in my current game.

Ok, scratch that. Somehow, my AP was still version 1.50, even though SC said it was 1.52. I reinstalled AP and it now says 1.52 on the options screen too.

One bug that I am noticing even with the newest version is that the Torians are ALWAYS neutral. I can set them to any alignment I want in the setup screen, but they are always listed as neutral in-game.

I got the Torians alignment working. I'm not sure why they were stuck on neutral for a while. Maybe my comp is whacked...

I got to correct myself.

You can already note at round no. 1, which sectors inhabitate all other major civīs home planet.

But itīs okay, that way I could get into debt rather early in my "normal" game for rush-completing a Trade Good which boosts speed for 20% (donīt know the english name for that, playing german version 1.20).

Of course it would ruin my empire normally, but as I can trade with the farthest civ now (without having seen them before, just were sending freighters out as soon as I had researched "Trade") itīs nullified. And it worked.

Thus switching my strategy for higher difficulties, even if Iīve still the feeling that itīs a bug.

I know it's not that likely that there will be further patches for GC, but I thought I'd go ahead and post the bugs I've found so far:
(I play the GC with the most recent patch, non-AP)

-In Foreign Policy screen (Relations tab selected), it lists my Espionage spending at 24 bc per turn, even though I haven't contacted any races yet. (I think that was what my spending was on the Alterians in the previous game I had loaded.)

-The time listed for each save file in save/load file section of the menu doesn't display properly. eg.: 2:57:4 instead of 2:57:04

-Economic, Manufacturing, and Scientific Capitols all show an icon on the star system, but Political Capitol doesn't display one.

-In the endgame scoring screen, the average tax rate is listed in bc instead of a percentage.

-While researching Final Frontier, the victory percentages in the menu had Technological listed at 102%.

-Intelligence reports for treasury sometimes inaccurate. (Drengin listed in 1st place for treasury but has negative 2215 bc in treasury.)

-In the Empire settings screen (your empire, not the computers), Political Party section, if you click on the Details button, an extra % shows up for the bonuses. eg.: they bring a 20%% to morale and a 20%% increase in your diplomatic skills

-In game, with the fleet list showing, it always displays your military rank as first out of however many players in the game, even when you're clearly not in first place.

Horrido, Lotherius:

Did either of you get any relief to this problem? I am experiencing the same thing. I started out with AP 1.50 - no problems, then upgraded to 1.52b and I get a crash to desktop everytime I hit the "menu" key when playing a "Good v Evil" and "Altarian Alliance" game. Everything else seems OK.

Figures, those happen to be the two variations I was most interested in.

No I never did get a satisfactory answer. It appears no one else in this forum does either.

I love the concept behind the game but the latest version with AP is nothing but problems. Some of the options just do NOT work and even on the more plain vanilla setups very few games that I play ever make it through to the end ....at some point it nearly always just goes POOF and dissappears. A reload of the autosave invariably dissappears when the same point is reached again.

I realise they may be busy on GC2 ....but abandoning their current customers with a buggy version of the current game is not a great business strategy to boost potential sales of GC2. I for one will think twice, or even three times before plonking down any more cash and upgrading again.

Current fix by Stardock is to send a new GalCiv.exe file to replace the one causing the crash (thanks again, CariElf!)

Hi Folks,

I recently downloaded the GC2 beta, and I'm experiencing regular CTDs. I imagine that part of the purpose for the open beta is to get feedback about this sort of thing so I'd like to send the debug.err file to you, but I don't know the procedure. Could you let us know what to do?

Thanks

Me again.

Tried to play after downloading the latest update, and I can't get past the first setup screen. I immediately receive a "buffer overrun" error message. Guess I'll have to wait for the next update.

Found the GalCiv2 site, so my questions are answered. Also downloaded the latest, latest update and the crash on startup is resolved, plus, so far, no in-game crashes either. I like it so far.

The bug is with Colonization effect, which gives Starship bonus (ex, +45% Starship).
More about this is discussed here:

Hi. I don't know if u fixed this bug, I have not latest version (can't haveit due to my non licenced version of GC), but I think if I tell this won't be annoying to see. When some alien has huge influence on my planet, an icon with sceleton appears. Later, when I have even 15x more influence in this sector, icon doesn't disappear, though everything goes OK, my planet doesn't suffer from alien's influence. To say short, once appeared, this icon never disappears. I have GC 1.21.099, and AP 1.51.008 (playing AP). Thanks.

Kreator3, I had the same problem
When I played that skeleton lasted really long time.
I also thought that it was a bug. Maybe it is.

I found other bug.
Very interesting Overall ranking is shown in my game:
Population: 8th
Economy: 7th
Military: 6th
Technology: 8th
Morale: 7th
Popularity: 8th
Treasury: 2nd
Influence: 8th
Production: 7th

Overall: 1st

How is that possible to be Overall first, when I am 4 times 8th and 3 times 7th and never 1st? I.e. I am almost always the last and overall I am 1st. It is really bug.

maybe you gave your much treasury money to judges & they gave you 1st place

#90  by Citizen Robertukas - 8/13/2005 1:09:11 AM

I gave no money to anyone.
Treasury 2nd? Really incredible, because I have negative number 378 (i.e. -378). You can see it in left bottom (if you follow that link).

You have no money ? That proves that you have given all to those who decide which player is best

I've noticed 1 more interesting thing: If you send a constructor to a resource & when it's there you are told about lack of money, the constructor stands over the resource & doesn't allow aliens to harvest it. This seems to be unfair.

I have no money because I bought a Galactic Wonder.

What's the right place to find help for problems with the Stardock Central auto-update process? (It seems to hang on this 'Activating Product' step for hours)

Even if it is neutral though, I think that it might be possible that the civ in question had the Paladins given or sold to them.

or they were good when they started building them. and change to neutral when a event came up.
you can still build them if you are already building them but once done you will not be able to continue to build them.
