How did the AI on intellegent manage to research and build so fast? At the beginning I'm spending on 100 percent and own the same number of planets they do. They built so many colony ships and constructors so quickly. How did they do it?

The AI get a head start on the higher levels

Thats what makes it harder along with the increased intelligence.

Wait, so from what level does the AI not get a head start? (ie, fair game level)?

Not 100% sure on the exact level but loosely work it that the higher the level the greater the head start... Probably from above Normal level you will see a difference.

Thanks. Hmm, I thought that intillegent was the "Fair" level. So does anyone know which level it is for sure? Mabe a developer can reply to this to take a short second to support people who play their game?

Ok i got the answer

Q. Does the Ai cheat?

A. At levels below Intelligent it receives less than a human from taxes. At Intelligent it receives the same. Above it gets more. Also, the AI knows where all the yellow stars and galactic resources are, but this is explained in the backstory as they traveled the stars much longer than humans.

Hope that answers it for you.

That's the taxes, what about other benefits? Like starting with more and other benefits.

Depending upon which bonus picks/political party they start with they may get extra production/economic bonuses.

You stated that you'd increased your spending to 100%. Did you also change your sliders to devote all (or most) of that spending to 'military' projects?
ie: That field from whence cometh all colony ships, constructors, etc?

They were ahead of me in everything in a few turns (less than 10) So if they spent everything on military then they would be behind me in tech.

This is only my opinion...

Normal difficulty setting is "Fair". Everything above that is not. With that being said there are still ways to beat the game on Maso (All AI at Intelegent).
