Question on the demo and Corvette Technology

I was playing the demo (I plan on buying the game online today) and I researched Corvette Technology, and a couldn't build any Corvettes. I know how to build ships; I've built some Colony Ships, Scouts, Star Fighters, etc., but the Corvette didn't show up in the list. Is this because they require another technology, or are they just not in the demo version?

IIRC, corvettes just aren't in the demo. I think battle cruisers are in, so research up to turbo phasers.
