Hmmm...even though we currently hold a 615,836 point lead over Special Forces, they seem to be reactivating from their Holiday leave. They're making some pretty feisty comments over in their thread, so we might want to be prepared for a score attack from them.

It may be time to unleash a spell of "Incredible Scoring" on them. What say you all?

Ya know, doesn't this icon: look like he's got a wizard cone on?

Yup, it is Gandalf smoking pipeweed!

My output for a while will be low, unfortunately. I have general exams at the end of the month

#1103  by Veteran Theoden of Rohan - 1/6/2004 3:13:07 PM

The exams are more important than the game (at least for the moment!) We'll hold the fort until crunch time is over!

I anticipate submitting a Gig/Maso tomorrow or Thursday.

Damn work/life keeps getting in the way!

Sounds like it's on with SF! Time to rally the troops! We should prepare for a sustained assault by Special Forces Empire!

#1106  by Citizen musicfan55 - 1/6/2004 6:22:37 PM

Just submitted my first of 2004, a 60k gig maso. We are over 4.1 million. Congrats to everyone and good luck on the exams vincible.

Original quote from J.R.R. Tolkien. (Apparantly changed by the publishers without his consent).

"For Special Forces will have dominion over all life on this Earth, even until the ending of the world. The time of the elves is over. Do we leave Middle-Earth to this fate? Shit-yeah!"

Yeah, and now we're making them in YOUR thread, so we're definately waking up!

Nice one Jeff

Good morning, Ringfolk!

It looks like our friends from SpecFor have dropped in for a visit! How nice!

Great job on the first of the year for you, Rick! I knocked out a Small/Maso last night. I think the spell of "Ultimate Scoring" has been cast and we are beginning to feel the effects!

Fight on Fellowship! Our destiny lies at the top of the Metaverse!

#1110  by Citizen Smegged - 1/7/2004 9:26:19 AM

I know what's happened! The Fellowship of the Ring got the random event where they gain "an item of power" that "increases their strength" until they conquer the galaxy. Hmmmm I wonder if the makers of Galciv knew about the true power of the One Ring when they made the metaverse.

Spec Forces need a Frodo and Sam so that they can cast the One Ring into the Fires of Mt Doom to destroy it forever. Or at least an Arwen to distract all the men in the Fellowship....

Do you suppose there's an artifact of good? Sort of an opposite Telenath?

I guess it could be this can of Spam I found. Sort of unusual that a can of meat product would be an item of great power, though. I was wondering why the Spam was glowing.

Perhaps it's the LIGHT sought by Seeker Master.

Ahh, the truth is finally revealed!

#1114  by Citizen Greldon - 1/7/2004 11:04:21 AM

Maybe we shouldn't let him know ...... could be devastating to find out your Holy Grail is a can of processed meat!

#1115  by Veteran Theoden of Rohan - 1/7/2004 11:08:07 AM

We'll keep it to ourselves, but I'm never going to be able to visit the Empire of Light thread again without laughing!

#1116  by Citizen Greldon - 1/7/2004 11:15:11 AM

Yes, it will be difficult to maintain the proper decorum while visiting ….. especially at dinner time!

You are so easily deceived, yet was it not your forefathers who gladly took theirs of the Dark Lord's rings.

We'll keep it to ourselves, but I'm never going to be able to visit the Empire of Light thread again without laughing!

Yes, Sartre and other drunk French existentialists thought they had it all figured out too All will be revealed in due time, all shall be known

Our scrolls teach us that many will say the Light is here or it is there. We will know where and whence it is found for the Light shall reveal itself to us.

Go ahead and eat your spam, for it surely is not what we seek.

Oh, waitress! A round of: Spam, spam, eggs, spam, spam, bacon, and spam for our Fellowship friends, please.

My dear friends I am just want to quote you what The True Light revealed me from his Scroll of Wisdom:

"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise."

"A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool."

"Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth."

"As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool."

So keep the Spam away from you before your belly betrays you.

I saw Return of the King. Now it does remind me of Glal Civ. The Special Forces is a small band of heroes wedged between nearly insurmountable odds - gallantly holding their own against the Fellowship and Euros despite being outnumbers nearly 17:1.

I mean the Fellowship can't claim to be the underdogs. You guys should have 6 times our score, not 600,000 k more... we all know how the movie ended. Maybe the Special Forces will be able to defeat the overwhelming large forces of evil they face.
Actually, the 13 champions of the Fellowship have contributed more than 2,000,000 more metaverse points and it is only by the perverse will of Saruman that we are in second due to a scoring system that penalizes the top players so the masses have a chance. And we have submitted many more maso games as well... so I won't count out our fellowship.

Wouldn't that me a great story for 2004?

Doesn't this seem like an odd quote to be from the Bible?

Wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.
--Ecclesiastes 10:19

Ahh, but this is certainly about the Fellowship of the Ring, right?

Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world
--John 16:33

So which one of you is Boromir?

This reaction is just what I expected, and why we chose not to reveal the truth of the LIGHT to your Emperor. I am however quite relieved that you are able to ignore the truth and continue your quest. The demise of your most noble empire would sadden us greatly …… mostly because of the belly laughs we’d be missing! HaHaHaHaHaHa

Nay, my dear sir, we choose to ignore only your perception of truth and choose, instead, to follow our own truth as we are led to do in our search for the light.

Enjoy your belly laughs. I am sure many Romans laughed when told huns were at the gates and regretted such when the Truth was revealed. As it was so shall it be. The Light is and always has been...

Wow! We're getting all kinds of visitors in the Halls today!

Cypher: The Dirty Baker's Dozen are certainly very worthy opponents. And yes, you have contributed a ton of points. I would never count out the Special Forces. The future is bright for both our empires!

As far as the Empire of Spam, I wish you luck in your quest in finding the Light! Remember, there are rows of them over every aisle, including the one that has the Spam!
