Stupid question time. I just recently repurchased GalCiv for my new computer, it's version 1.20. I will be buying Altarian Prophecy soon, probably inside of a week. My question is, do I have to download any more recent version of GalCiv for Altarian Prophecy to work when I install it?

AP v 1.51Two things I've noticed -- both probably bugs. 1) If you save a game after the UPC passed resolution that should last for 3 years, when you reload, it no longer shows up as an enforced law -- even if the time limit has yet to expire

In my games I'm not seeing passed resolutions show up in the window EVER. It's completely broken as far as I can tell.

Also on the same screen: in the small window in the upper right with the pie chart there is not enough room to display the influence percentages for all 7 races. There are black boxes where the numbers for the top 2 races are supposed to be displayed.

Any idea on what is going on with the United Planets Council after reloads though?

What is your version of Galciv?

I am experiencing some rather odd bugs.. I am playing a game where only one race has 100% approval rating the other one has 98% and another has 85%. None of the Minors have a rating higher then 90%. My approval rating is 100% in all my colonies. Looking at my stats it says I am in 3rd place?

Also concerning turns left.. If you move another ship instead of the one the game gives you it does not give you the moves you are owed.

Say you have a constructor heading some place, decide to change direction and you did it before taking the turn with the unit the game gives you. Instead I click on the constructor. It should allow me to move the first unit, instead it does not it makes me wait until next turn. I have had this happen over and over so I know it is a real bug.

About turn: what are the options checked between auto end of turn and end of turn skip movement left?

#105  by Veteran Cosmic Fox - 9/29/2004 9:22:33 AM

It is set to not skip turns of course which is why I posted this as a bug. This only happens if you try to stop a unit that is on its way some place else and you decide to change it. The unit you had turns left on does not come up the turn ends. At least in the past 3 games I have noticed this issue.

I think I've run across the bug where trade routes go dead, but it wasn't my trade routes. In my currect game the trade route screen shows the Drengin having 3 trade routes to me, but when I click on the tab in the negotiations screen that shows what percent of their income is from trade it says they get 0% of their trade from me, suggesting the trade routes are not working. A mini-freigher for one of these routes is permanently parked next to a Drengin system. If I click on it, it says it will bring in 76 BC this turn, but the freighter never moves.

...

In the negotiations screen for the Altarians when I click on the tab showing who they are at war/allied with it lists them as being allied with themselves. I think this is a bug that's been around since GC 1.0

I'm playing AP 1.51. Save game file available if you need it.

I have found this same bug.. I have freighters all over my map right now paused so to speak. I have found many trade routes that simply stop and it was due to being attacked repeatedly. They do tell you that it is to risky to maintain this trade route any longer. It will go dead shortly after that.

The parked/paused freighters is a big issue I feel. It also seems the AI will build tons of freighters for no appartent reason. Same with colony ships they end up building them when they are not needed.

Um, it should be saving them.  If you want to send me your save game I can check in the debugger to see if it actually is.  Just make sure that you tell me what I'm supposed to be looking for in the save game.  I get a lot of e-mail.

Arcalian, it should work as long as you have version 1.2.  But you might have a few strings missing if you don't use Stardock Central to update to 1.21.

CariElf, I have a saved game AP 1.51 that has the survey ship stopped doing surveys. There are still lots of anomolies around. Do you want it?

#110  by Citizen NewfyScotian - 10/5/2004 12:03:19 PM

Carielf, have you found out why the anomalies are disapearing when you do a reload of a saved game?

Is there something to do with the anomolies that is not saved when a saved game happens?

I see the anomolies disappear on almost every game I play. Usually happens after 3 - 4 years worth of play. My auto save is set to 5 years. I do save the game manually as well as autosaves.

If I have determined that I have made a tactical mistake I will reload a previous save. It is then that I have noticed the anomolies are gone.

I've noticed this too.

Newfy,

I've never seen the bug where anomalies disappear.  You can go ahead and send me the save game.

Hi CariElf.. Can you help.. I had the best game ever and right after I submit the game to the metaverse it crashes and asks if I wish to send Microsoft the error report.

Below is a link to my game summary. Would this be due to Mods I have installed possibly?? Thanks and if you want my save game let me know I will put it on my site.

I am trying to end the game a different way but I noticed a serious error. It shows me as 2nd in popularity and treasury. Yet, the only two races in the game are WARM toward me and have zero money. I believe this is why my game crashed.

Sorry if this has already been posted in a bug thread elsewhere, but has anyone else had this problem? I've started a standard, non-campaign game of AP v1.51 and I've build 3 starbases so far I believe, but none of them actually cost me any money to build. I'm not sure if it's a bug or if that's been disabled or if one of my data files got screwed up during my last update, so I thought I'd ask. I've had data files screw up during an update once before (at least that's how it appeared to me), the result being that the logistics techs just weren't available on the tech tree (edit: this has been fixed on my machine for some time, just to be clear ), so that may have been the same kind of thing that happened to me here as well, I suppose.

if it helps: XP Pro SP1, 2.53GHz P4, 512MB RAM, AIW Radeon 8500

Umm, regarding my last post..I'm playing on beginner level. A friend of mine has informed me that starbases don't cost anything on lower difficulty levels anymore (what can I say? I've been distracted from my GalCiv'ing by other stuff on Totalgaming.net lately). If this is the case, then sorry for wasting anyone's time with my uninformed question. Too bad he didn't tell me before I made a fool of myself on this thread. Gomen ^_^

Edit: mods, please feel free to delete either or both of my posts (sorry for the double-post)..course, you could let them stand as a warning to others as well I suppose.

After installing quite a few mods, I decided to begin playing GalCiv Alterian Prophecy. After I completed my first turn the game cut to an action screen of my civilization being completely destroyed and the game
ended. Can someone tell me what the problem is or how I can fix this? Thanks.

What is the size of your map?

The bug with the disapearing anomalys isnt new, but it would be great, if he can be fixed.

Any update on patch status or ETA? It's been quiet around here...

I might add that in my AP game, it doesnt consider the Dominion Of Korx, or those other dudes majour civilizations... cause when i return form a saved game it says I'm not at war with any majour civilizations when I am [which was the Dominion guys]

If you're using the spiral galaxy mod it has more planets than Gal Civ can currently handle due to a bug.

Space_Man_1: have you noticed this with the original races also?
