Wait a minute what's that? It's headed for the Light Sabre Armory. Fire all batteries!!! Zap Zap Zap. Nothing sir, their hull is like nothing we've ever seen before. Our shots just bounced off. They aren't even running with shields. It was then the Jedi saw the Ship. It was a corvette, and written on the side was Die Jedi Die. Abandon all hope. Torians!!! Yelled Mayito. Tie fighters were launched but all ended up destroyed. The weapons depot was a complete loss. Soon there were rumors circulating throughout the republic of the invincible Torian.
Later, at the Jedi academy.
"This is Pontius Bruin Pilot. For firing on G.R.O.S.S. vessels, we have implemented General Order 24. If you do not transmit the standard recompense within two hours, you will be destroyed."
The Jedi laughed. Send a few missiles his way Let him feel the wrath of the force. Soon to be Jedi 2. Pirates 0. Just as Mayito was about to push the launch butten, he heard a transmission.
We are sorry about the attack on your corvette class ship, and are transmitting the required tribute immediately. Please accept our humble apology from us on behalf of the entirety of the Jedi Republic. And may the force be with you on your upcoming journey.
Mayito: Who did that? Who!!!! There are penalties for treason you know. And we don't give tribute to...
Obi-wam: I did
Mayito: Obi-wan, Why you have no authority to barge into the academy and.....
Obi: What? No Glad to see you're alive? No how bout some Jedi Pizza? You Ivory Tower theoritions have it all figured out don't ya?. Get back to debating the relative merits of 4 vs 5 prong droid interfaces on xwings and leave the fighting to the fighters.... Hmmmmmm.

Mayito: Holy Cow, they have enough to....
Obi: Yes. If you'd fired on that ship you'd take out us, and half the quadrant. You know what happens when Isotope 159 destabilizes. Besides, he holds the fate of us all. He's headed to Torian Space.....Going after that invinceable ship. However, he will find more than he bargained for. And he doesn't know it yet, But he is going to die.

| As the oldest active empire still left, and one of the few oldies that still has its original emporer (not that i haven't thought of handing over the reins, these guys just wont let me hehe) it's been a strain on all of us taking the lead in holding this thing together. |

Ok, after long conversations with Obi-Wan, in his force form, I would like to say that Amidala, you are welcomed to stay and I would like to apoligise for insulting you. Just don't make it true please  .
As for the rest of you, things seem to be settling down and the latest Metaverse Review adequatly sums up the state of the Metaverse (I rated it Insightful btw Theoden very good job as usuall) and I think that everyone will find their place. Most of our members have stood strong, waiting out the storm and I think that those who took a leave of absence will return in due time. We may be down Jedi, but we are definetly not Out.

Idle: No one tried to rewrite anything. My mistake. I took 5/18, the start date of your thread as your startdate. A simple mistake. I don't believe it called for a troll. Oh well. Class and MWC never went together. Say. That makes what now 15 days you've been ahead of us....Congrats. It only took most of us being retired for over a month from playing to catch us. You must be proud!!! Whereas the rest of the 5 months we've been in existance we've clobbered you. You're still our B*tch and you know it.

I don't know...a sign of solidarity might be good for the Jedi right now. You guys could make a big first step by rejoining the Jedi Republic. I think right now the Jedi need a sign that things are getting back to normal, and you two hanging out in another empire isn't proving that.
Just the frank opinion of an ally. You can take it or leave it as you wish...

Well, all, it seems that my decision to go neutral for awhile until things could settle down has hurt the Jedi Republic more than the action that I was protesting. Although the firestorm has died down, I note that nobody who left has yet returned. Also, it's unusually quiet in here, particularly given how vocal everyone was just 3-4 days ago.
I've spent quite a bit of my free time over the last few days thinking about why we come here. GalCiv is an addicting game, all right - maybe as addicting as the original MOO. And the Metaverse adds another dimension to the experience. But for me, at least, the key has always been the community. It's good to spend time with people by CHOICE just because you genuinely enjoy their company.
With that in mind, I accept any responsibility that people want to throw my way for over-reacting. In the madness of the past week, somebody (Gerakken?) threw out the old Spider-Man quote, "With great power comes great responsibility." Yes, I was (in my opinion justifiably) upset over the actions of a few; but acting on that emotion without fully considering the consequences is something I should never have done. Being one of the recognized voices of a major empire sometimes means you need to take it down a notch and think before you act; to just take one for the team. I didn't, and this place nearly came apart at the seams.
With that in mind, I think it's best if I let the current roster of Jedi find their own identity. An interesting blend of new voices is here, and they don't need to be drowned out by an opinionated curmudgeon like me. Alex has web talents; it might be a good thing to see some major changes for the JR website. And the old guard is still here; in particular, StBlasius and Sherbert seem ready to step up and take over my diplomatic duties.
Likewise, I plan to focus on "fun" instead of "duty." The POSSE's new empire sounds like it's gonna be a blast; if they'll have me after all this ruckus, I plan to send in an application.
Anyway, all, no hard feelings. Just remember to focus on the fun and friendships that this place brings, and not quite so much on betrayals, backstabbings and dirty tricks. The Jedi Republic has some interesting times ahead, but I'm sure that you'll step up and deliver.
And just in case you get lazy, I'm hanging onto my lightsaber. In practice mode, it won't kill you, but it sure will help if I need to come in here and knock some heads.

The first elections are supposed to take place November 1st, but because of recent events, under executive order I am moving the election date back to November 8th to give us all an extra week to prepare.
