#1102  by Citizen Lord Orpon - 10/30/2003 11:49:11 PM

While trailing the great Imperial fleet on observation duty, Lord Orpon noticed a strange event. Besides the logical appearance of the great Star Destroyer (massively extended) and the reasonable presence of the academy support-corvette there was an unusual amount of darkly colored debris floating around in space. After several hours the explanation offered itself...

Minion: Sir! There's an incoming message from the frigate "Nasty, Evil, Mean and Downright Wicked" sir.

L O: What is it?

M: "Have collided with unidentified ship. Request immediate assistance." sir.

L O: Well, let's mosey on over and see what's going on then.

M: Aye aye sir.

Half a parsec later a scene of confusion appeared before the puzzled euros.
Two ships were floating in space, tangled with one another. One was the Nasty, Evil, Mean and Downright Wicked, painted a deep black, almost invisible against the backdrop of space. The other ship only appeared intermittently, apparently with a faulty stealth-device. As the euros approached a garbled chatter could be heard at the unknown ships frequency.

...Bloody hell! And those were fresh leaves too!!...
...eucalyptus-stash... ...can't bloody well steer...
...evil indeed...

On the other ships frequency could be heard:

...special whip... ...I lost my rythm... ...stealth-special-morons, couldn't miss a planet if was the only one left in the galaxy...

The entire crew broke out laughing and then sent a distress beacon out to mark the site for any passers-by and their amusement.

OK - with Obiwan gone, who is going to look after the website?

He's sent me a zipped copy - in response to my hosting offer - but I don't have a lot of spare time except during school holiday periods.

I look forward to taking command of my new ship, the modified Super Star Destroyer Icemane

It's yours, Kryo. Whoever updates the site now will have to add it in.

Well if Alex takes me up on my offer, it'll be me that's doing it... I couldn't just sit by and let that great site Obi-Wan did go to waste now, could I

#1114  by Veteran Primipilus Alexus - 10/31/2003 1:25:52 PM

It's not up to me - that's what a council is there for.....

I've copied all the files that ObiWan sent me onto the new site http://jedi.galciv.org Link (jedi.galciv.org) and will issue the userid and password etc to whoever takes the reins.

On the plus side, if I end up doing the site then I'll also have access to a server where I can try out some prototypes and see about converting the Jedi site over to e107 for easier updates

Kryo:

Also see the other thread on this topic, so that I can send you the "template" graphics file for members.

converting the Jedi site over to e107

It might be worth going "database driven" and build pages on the fly from a roster of members....

e107 is a php/sql driven CMS in the same vein as phpNuke... modifying it to generate member bits would be a mighty task though. I already have a roster script for it but seeing that I'm no programming guru (yet) I'll still have to do the member bits by hand. On the upside, converting would give us our own forum, polls, etc., and make it very easy to add news or extra content pages (like the fleet listing).

Attention Jedi

Jedi Prophet Kyp Durron is no more!! I have completed my journey to the dark side
With my conversion to the sith i have now become Darth Durron. I feel that now would be the best time to re-join the ranks of the jedi so i can convert more to the dark side of the force.
The academy will still remain as a recruitment thread for the republic. myself and Mayito7777 will still train new jedi recruits, either jedi or sith. but our fight will bring us back to the republic.

Darth Durron

THe Master Jedi's have returned from the Academy responding to an urgent call from the Council. The Academy still will remain open for the training of the future Jedi's, but our presence in the Jedi Council is more important in this dark times when The Dark side is growing stronger. So here we are honorable members of The Jedi Council.

#1121  by Veteran GASherbert - 10/31/2003 3:21:48 PM

Welcome back, Mayito and Kyp! I have a Fleet again!

There are currently 15 slots in the Council, 10 of them filled. That leaves 5 open slots for people to run for. I think you can start posting to say that you are willing to run.

At this time, I would like to nominate Darth Kyp as the Head of the Academy, with the Academy being a new subpart of the Republic.
