lol... now how can i do that ... when i've just been telling everyone that i'll never leave the ANZACS... my credability would go out the window... now wouldn't it.... nice try though...

Your cred would be fine. We changed our name and logo. It did wonders for us. FotR did the same and they have no credability problems. It's all in how you market yourselves.

Problem is that only "Emperors" get to edit the empire. Not likely that Warty will return to do that for ANZACs. BlueSteel would have to start another empire if he wants to rebrand.

Okay have a question. In the metaverse galatic map does anyone know how it figures what percentage of the galaxy someone owns?

Do you think that the Stardock admins might be able to do something to help out if he hasnt been around for months?

hey Yoda! The new Fellowship WotW installment finally resolved the meeting that you determined would happen in your first WotW contribution.

Keep up the activity on the forums. It's what attracts members. Although I have to say the GROSS has been quite lackluster lately. The crazy mutants might finally breath some life back into a dead corpse.

Question: In my current game, I built the first stage of a terror star and my starbase vanished. I tried it on a second one, and the same thing happened. How many of you has this happened to and can I fix it? I'm playing a large galaxy and it just a minor, the Yor, and me. My Terror Stars were getting ready to take control of the game, but ::oooof:::, all gone.

Thanks for you help and advice.

Could be the vanishing ship bug, Dooku. ie Terror Star graphics lost.

Try saving and reloading.

I'm preparing for the endless nights of MIT. I need the practice staying up late. Real late. No earlier than 4 AM.

The Journey-Part 2

Survival
Far from the embracing warmth of a sun a small comet reaches its equilibrium point. At this place in the heavens, gravity once more starts to claim the small icy worldlet. Again the comet slowly starts its long lonely fall into the gravity well of the closest sun. Will it survive the dart like plunge into the pinball gallery of gas giants and solid planets to display its brilliant plasma tail for all to see?

A radiant ray of heat strikes the comet with minimal damage to its icy structure. But ice isn’t the only thing that it strikes. On a metal plate a laser light blinks on and two aerials extend from the smooth dome. Scanning commences and the dome turns to the direction the heat came from. Nothing can be seen but the sensors in the dome are not restricted to the visual light spectrum. Normal space is being ripped apart like paper. The sensor dome initiates immediate communication with its Jedi masters and starts to send all recordable information.
The rip in the Einstein Space time continuality expands until a perfect sphere of star matter appears and explodes outwards in massive wave of radiation, heat, light and hydrogen. For a micro second a sun exists where no star has any right to exist. The exploding star matter expands outwards and vaporizes the innocent comet leaving the Jedi drone drifting in space. In the centre of the disturbance a faint outline of a ship can be seen radiating latent heat out into the cold of space. As the star matter expands and cools the ship is rocked once again buy 306 small individual explosions forming a perfect sphere around the ship. The temperature around the ship has cooled enough so the plumes of air escaping are now visible from a number of places. The nose cone has been melted down in a slag heap and the engine exhausts have been sheared off. No lights or communication frequencies can be detected from the wreck. The hull surface buckles in places as it rapidly cools.
Another explosion from the underside of the ship gives the ship a sickening lurch and puts it into an end over end tumble away from the drone’s position. 18 small shapes dart from the area of the latest explosion and all but one head for the plumes of escaping gas that are now starting to crystallize into ice. The drones watches as one of the small shapes heads in its direction. As the shape gets closer the sensors of the drone can pick up the powerful but small power source with its direct connection to a single weapons small point. A new signal is picked up from the shape and the drone recognises the protocol initiation signal but with out the resources to decode it the drone just records it and sends it on. The Micro bot buzzes the drone twice and as if bored it heads back to the bleeding ship to help with the repairs. By now the most of the larger plumes had been reduce to thin columns of escaping gas.
Inside the cabin the form of a bat was laid out against the view screen pinned there by the centrifugal forces of the spinning ship.
The bat stirred restlessly and one word escapes into the rapidly thinning air, before he slumped down unconscious. “Undead?”

Far far away in another system a young Jedi apprentice turned to his Master. ”Sir a drone has reported a ship appearing suddenly near one the new systems we have on the border of the Canadian Empire.”
The master Jedi looking over the apprentice’s shoulder to studied the readouts “Hmm not a Zombie ship. Way too much of a radical design shift for them. Send the closest ship to investigate and dispatch a frigate for backup. Just in case”

Even closer to the crippled Freedom Fighter ship a Canadian scout detected the expanding star matter and interrupted the sector sweep to investigate.

This isn't going to be a 23-part miniseries, is it? I mean, I can't stand the stress.....

#144  by Citizen Bakka - 7/28/2003 1:07:30 AM

I don't think my typing skills will last through a 23 part story but just for you i will try..

Um, Bakka, what was that story, precisly?

Yoda, part 1 of Bakka's story is in the Freedom Force thread. His story will apparently reveal the empire he will join in due time.

Heh. Looks like a 35K free agent has taken a liking to a spin on the mercenary idea. This ought to be interesting, bakka.

A little bit later, in a Jedi Starfighter far, far away…

Obi-Wan glared down at the viewscreen tucked into the tiny cockpit. On the screen, a young Jedi apprentice could be seen clearly shaking at the Knight’s displeasure. From the apprentice’s viewpoint on his own screen, Obi-Wan’s face was illuminated only by the pale blue light shining up from the controls of his starfighter, giving the Knight an unearthly appearance. And judging by his expression, the Dark Side was strong with him at the moment.

“What do you mean, ‘Proceed immediately to the Canadian border?!?’” Obi-Wan intoned. “Master Yoda HIMSELF ordered me to the Naboo system two days ago to update their Galactic Web interface. You DO realize how important recruiting is for us at the moment, don’t you? You DO realize that we’re at war, don’t you?”

The young apprentice began tugging at his collar; his throat suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable. “I’m sorry, Master Kenobi, but you’re the closest ship at the moment, and this disturbance must be checked out quickly – we’ve just been informed that there’s also a Canadian scout nearby-“

“Find the next-closest ship. Kenobi out.”

72 seconds later, in the very same starfighter…

Obi-Wan peeked apprehensively at the viewscreen tucked into the tiny cockpit. On the screen, the face of Jedi Master Yoda could be seen, very clearly trembling with displeasure. And judging by his expression, the Dark Side was VERY strong with him at the moment.

“In gear, your ass will get! NOW! Six hours behind you, a Republic frigate is. If the probe’s location you have reached, and the mystery you have solved, order it NOT to fire on you, I MAY!”

Obi-Wan meekly instructed his ship’s R4 unit to dig out the approach vector for the Canadian border. He settled in for the flight.

4 hours and 22 minutes later, in the very same starfighter…

The space-time continuum reeled as the starfighter punched through the warp barrier. Shedding speed, the ship released its warp ring and settled into a long, graceful bank toward the unknown vessel.

Obi-Wan frowned at the readouts on the tiny display. “That’s odd…with the amount of damage that ship has taken, her pressure hull should have cracked like an eggshell. I’m still reading a breathable atmosphere in a few sections.”

R4 beeped and whistled inquisitively. Obi-Wan sighed. “No, R4. I’m not reading any human life forms aboard…although…there IS something alive over there. It’s a very faint reading.” He opened a comm channel. “Jedi Republic Starfighter to unknown vessel. Please respond.” He was momentarily grateful that Lando Calrissian Sr. had negotiated a deal with the Altarians for the Universal Translator technology. Obi-Wan really couldn’t stand protocol droids.

“Jedi Republic Starfighter to unknown vessel. Please respond.”

R4 began beeping and twitting with vigor. The mysterious vessel’s main comm system was apparently down, and an audio transmission was coming in on an old-fashioned carrier wave. The droid piped it into Obi-Wan’s receiver. The Jedi winced; the cloud of random gases that still surrounded the shattered starship was causing static on the transmission. Faintly, he began to hear a voice.

“[hiss…crackle] – don’t care where you’re FROM, mate, I just need a bleeding PINT!… [crackle]”

Taken aback, Obi-Wan began to formulate a reply. Suddenly, R4 began beeping insanely. “What do you mean, the warp ring’s been destroyed?!?” Obi-Wan twisted in his seat, trying to see what was happening behind him. “That ship out there doesn’t have enough power left to grill a sandwich, and we would’ve seen anything else on sensors!” He slammed the throttle levers forward, and spun the ship around. And gasped.

The ship was huge. Its scarred, pitted hull had gaps larger than the Jedi’s Starfighter, freely exposing the interior to the deathly vacuum of space. It was ancient; the faint markings of a maple leaf were emblazoned on its flanks, faded to a pale pink. The engine section was massive, obviously designed for speed and power. Bent and shattered antennas, radar dishes and unidentifiable bits of cool-looking hardware covered every surface that was still intact. As if he had suddenly opened his eyes, Obi-Wan felt an aura of diabolical evil wash through the Force, emanating from the mammoth vessel. Something was aboard that ship. Something that had once been human, but no longer. A LOT of somethings.

“R4, that’s no scout ship…it’s as big as a space station!”

The mysterious, hulking vessel drew closer. The voice on the comm channel continued to speak of the need for alcohol, but Obi-Wan knew full well that if he had any, he’d be drinking it now.

“How long before the frigate arrives?” Beep, whistle, whirr, plaintive trill. “Five hours and 52 minutes, huh?” Mournful trill. “Warp ring totally destroyed, huh?” Deathly, dirge-like trill.

“R4…I have a bad feeling about this.”
