I would suggest only classifying an empire as dead if nobody submits a game for more than a month.
One week is too short.

I suspect most are dead though.

I do think there a few players who are using the Metaverse as a personal high score page and are not interested in empiring.
I think they are missing out on a lot of fun but it's their choice.

i was checking out the empires and the forums even before i bought the game. the first thing i did when i bought the game after installing stardock central and installing the latest patches, i was on here registering -after that i finally loaded up galciv and played my first game.

For me, I saw the news of GC's release on Gamespot, immediately came over here to check out the forums (and the game play examples). Discovered that the retail shops have not even heard of GC so I immediately downloaded the game, registered myself on the Meta and started to play my first Simple game.

... nope its me... Some how my login has stuffed up.. i'm waiting for a reply from stardock on how to fix it.. and try to find out whats gone wrong  I can't even edit my emnpire .. and don't want to submit any games till its fixed.. just incase something else goes wrong
