remove terror stars????

hello, first post. is there anyway to remove the terror star from the game...

my reasons are, the ai, never uses them properly, and usualy bankrupts them in the process....

ive thought about removing the terror star from the available techs. but will this effect the tech tree?

any sugestions would be greatly appreciated!

btw great game, my wife calls her self a galciv widow, been playing it so much lately.

Welcome to the forums

OK. There is one way to get shot of terror stars. it can be done like this.....

  • move to your "galciv/data" file
  • Edit "CoreModules.SBModules" using a program like wordpad
  • press CTRL+F to get find popup
  • type "Terror" that will highlight "TerrorShell"
  • change the tech requirement listed to the following "ImpossibleTech"
  • do the same with the other parts of the terror star. (will be next ones in file)

Make certain you create backup of the "CoreModule" file before you edit it. this will set the required tech for Terror Star components to something that cant be got. This will not stop you or the ai from researching Terror star technology, but it will stop them from being built

Actually, once you change TerrorShell, the other parts will be unbuildable already, because they require TerrorShell to be built.

It should also be noted that most editors with a keyboard shortcut to Find use Ctrl+S (for Search) or Ctrl+R (for Replace).
