Who do we have to contact about taking over maintenance of the Galciv Writer and updating it for 1.20 and 1.49?

(We are VB capable over there in Diplomat-land )

You need to contact HawaiiFive-O the original creater of the GalCiv Writer.

I've sent some email to him, but he hasn't responded yet.

It should also be noted that there isn't really anything that needs to be updated. Except for the addition of the Loyalty attribute, all the changes in the updates since 1.06 or so have been transparent to GC Writer. GC:AP worked with it 'out of the box,' so to speak.

Strange, I was thinking it was the logistic attribute that was added

And the Writer should be made able to see the mod folder (at least i don't know how to do that)

These should all be minor changes to the Galciv writer. Well, still waiting to hear from Hawaii Five-O...

Heard from Hawaii Five-O. He's 'ruminating' about it right now...

Phreakin brillant idea!

Seeing the mods folder would make it much easier to use.

Hope he agrees.

Zipped up and shipped off to Slothrop.

I'm gratified that people still make use of my wee proggy.

Have fun, guys.

Glad to see you stop by, H5O! Hopefully, we'll get to see you around here again.

Sweeeeeet! Thanks much HFO.

I have used the Writer a lot and found it very useful for integrating mods from different people in to a whole system. By that I mean find conflicting IDs and such.

Any way thanks for allowing Slothrop to work on it. Now I can bug him for features...

*bump*
1. How is the stat about rebuilding the GalCiv Writer?
2 May the crew do the good (alignmentwise) a favor and allow to create events that allow a positiv value for the good choise?
I would like to add the posibility to reward good players, not only punishing them for playing good instead of evil

Can you explain how you think Galciv Writer could help you in this regard? I would think your suggestion is really not restricted by Galciv Writer, but rather by Galactic Civilizations itself.

Limitation in GalCiv itself, and an intentional one. Good is the path of difficulty (cf. various biblical passages, particularly 'the wide and easy road' leading to Hell). The rewards of goodness lie in the end results, not the means to them.

Arturus Magi,

Can you explain in what way the Logistics attribute is not transparent to GC Writer? What could GC Writer do for the Logistics attribute that it is not already doing?

I'd have to check again. The last time I used GC Writer, it crashed trying to change techs or improvements (array bounds overflow).

It should be able read the English.STR entries for Logistics just fine. I'm not certain if the attribute can be added to techs or improvements. I seem to recall that was a selection dialog on one of the two, not text entry, and might not have an entry for Logistics.

Thanks. I'd appreciate if you could check. And then exactly describe the change which is necessary/desired. As changes are being made to Galciv Writer as we speak, it would be good to get anything that makes sense in.

Also, let me know if there was any other places where you would get an array bounds overflow or any other error for that matter. Those would be bugs that should be fixed.
