The standard governor graphic in GalCiv annoyed me, so I made a few new ones - but it buggered me even more to have to manually copy the files each time I wanted to change them, so I created an interface that does exactly that.
For each governor there are three styles - one for each alignment in the game (good, neutral and evil). The interface lets you choose a governor and your alignment, then you just have to click 'Go' and the corresponding graphics are copied to the GalCiv Gfx folder (the standard governor, and the big govenor popup). Click 'Restore', and the original artwork is restored.
To make this even easier to use, the whole package comes with an installer that also creates a start menu group (uninstaller included) - so just lie back and enjoy these four governors:
- Julia from Tribes,
- Sgt. Maloney from Halo,
- Alex D. from Deus Ex,
- Jennifer Lopez

Glad that you liked it!
I've put an updated version online with two new governors: Sayathea and Salammbo. Grab it here:

I have updated the site too with in-game screenshots so you can see the result, as well as a screenshot of the interface itself. My favorite is Salammbo

What about "The Governator"???
Alex

You mean Schwarzenegger? I'd have to find a good quality picture of him - I'll see what I can find

It works with any GalCiv and GalCiv:AP version, as AP uses the graphics from GalCiv. Meaning that if you set your governor, you will have him in GalCiv and GalCiv:AP. It does not interfere with any other mods I know, and is update-safe

Very nice job. Julia is the first governor I've tried, and she's an immense improvement over the original.
The install program gave me a few problems. Several times during the install, between the windows that asked where the Galciv directories are, the program reduced itself to a small pink blob in the center of the screen, and drove the CPU utilization to 100% until I hit a-c-d to bring up the task window, at which point the window reappeared. I'm running WindowBlinds, I wonder if it was an interaction with that?

Whop? That's strange... must have something to do with the installer packaging software I use - WindowBlinds may have something to do with it, I'll check if there are some known issues...

I'll add each governor as downloadable zipfile, just for you

Additional governor suggestions:
Claudia Black, "Aeryn Sun" from Farscape.
Gigi Edgley, "Chianna" from Farscape.
Claudia Christian, "Susan Ivonova" from Babylon 5.
Tracy Scroggins, "Elizabeth Lochley" from Babylon 5.
I realize you might have problems locating appropriate jpegs, but you can probably discern a theme in my suggestions

I love all the ideas there, jmgarth!
