Does anyone know if or how the following tech boni available via GalCiv Writer mods affect the game:
Cabinet, interest rates, crime?

The following tech-boni do not seem to function if used in custom-made techs (they neither appear in the tech summary screen nor in the stats screen):
Hit points, loyality, gouvernment, luck, courage, creativity

The upper three (cabinet,...) do appear in those screens, but since they're normally not used in the unmodded game i'm not sure if they have any real effect if they're added to the game by custom techs.

If anyone else can confirm this is a problem and will describe "in detail" the correct behavior, then I will add it to the list of todos for Galciv Writer.

Interest rates is used in base GalCiv. It's effect is to reduce the cost of lease payments when rush building.

Government doesn't do anything, but it should appear on the abilities screen.

All of them do work (for their particular definitions of work) when added to techs by hand (I have techs that do all of these, including the three that don't have any effect).

The upper three (cabinet,...) do appear in those screens, but since they're normally not used in the unmodded game i'm not sure if they have any real effect if they're added to the game by custom techs.

As noted above, Interest rates is used (only one event deals with it, though). The other two don't do anything.

Crime was intended to offest the penalty for having an obscene income or an extremely large treasury, but the penalty never got added.

Cabinet, I think, is supposed to make certain types of votes more likely to come out in your favor. Government was similar for a different type of vote.

Thanks for your answers.

Could it be that the techs i mentioned do not appear in the screens (the researchable techs do appear, but not the e.g. "Hit Points + 10" line in the tech description) because i originally had the german CD-version and updated later via Stardock?

Got the impression there are some glitches caused by this since there are a lot of gfx files in the gfx folder that to this day i've never never seen in the game (and i've played it quite a lot).

By the way, where can i get the complete english version files? Up to now i've got an german/english hybid version.

There should be a link in the general forum. The topic was title 'French/German crash problems' or something similar....

Got 'em!

Although i've noticed that if you copy all files of this package in your folders, the starbases have no cost anymore...

So i just took the the UP issues, invasion tactics, the space shark and the star hawk (those are the files that remain german after the normal updates).
