Happen to be bored today, so i put my mind to replacing the animated stars in game. here is the result http://www.freewebs.com/guildshand/stars.htm Link

this mod has to be installed in the main gfx folder. for some reason if installed in the mods folder it crashes the game. so back up your Stars file prior to trying this mod.

enjoy

Interesting, you replaced the white warf with a Quasar?

Wonder what that would do to the population on its planets

A pulsar would be a better description than a quasar. Not that it really matters, i was just looking to make something different.

Well, it is possible that life could be sustained in a system with a pulsar, it is just very, very, very unlikely.

I doubt life could survive in a quasar system, assuming the planets somehow survived the collapse from the star to a quasar.

Oh, and very cool looking. I plan to download it sometime soon.

I'm curious, how did you create the quasar animation? I plan to add video import when I have some free time but it seemed way to painful to me any other way.

the short of it is this. I rendered 120 individual bmp files, then used a action script i made in photoshop to stitch them together, add a alpha channel, and assemble then into a vertical flim strip. Then it was just a matter of using your software to encode it.

Only 'bug' i can see is this: -

Near to the purple colored stars there is some sort of flickering line about an inch to the right. Pulses along with the star. Anoying enough to stop me using it, but other than that a great mod

turgotZ I love your work as usual it is always good. I seem to be having a problem though when I click on download it states that I am trying to enter a restricted website that could be harmful to my computer or data. Confusion on this I have not come across this one yet and I am a big privacy & security advocate. Let me know what is up I wish to post this at my site and include it in the Star Trek Mod.

Must be some odd security thing then I will look into what it is doing it. Most of what I have on my system is anti-spyware could be that some ad is linking through your site not sure. Thanks for letting me know it is on my end. Sorry to bug you dude..

Updated the star animations and submitted them to the library. as far as i can tell there are no more graphic glitches as mentioned by Dream Warrior. if any one finds one just post it.

thanks

I LOVE your work TurgotZ... I discovered the new things that you created just a few weeks ago. Good job! However it keeps yelling at me that my security settings will not allow me to download? I have no clue what it is talking about.

Hey Vision of Tomorrow, you seem to be a science buff like myself. I wanted to mention to you that I had a problem at my website along with a few other things. I noticed you had registered there and wanted to take the time to contact you.

I have a Science Forum that you might enjoy called Nerds & Geeks Lounge. I want to compliment you on your Art work for your Empire. Reminds me of the Moo3 Race, ah the name escapes me. I am working on a Mod for Space Empires IV I was wondering if I could use this picture for my Mod? Thanks.
