Errm, JJ were did you add the lists or changes? did you modify the files? Or was there anything in the main mail that got deleted, since it was emty, exept od the attachments.
Test the exchangeability of the BMAMES please and tell me if it works propperlyif it dont, i'll change the name to the shorting.
I figured something like that Amaymon, i had little free time too and thereby only had time for three test games

I used the word processor 602 with track changes highlighted.
My guess is that unless you have that program with the same tools activated you may not be able to see the changes. Are you using MS Word, if so try using it with the track changes option activated.
If not I can revisit the files and change the colour of the font of the changes (probably what I should have done in the first place)
What program do you use to write the mods?
| |
|
I wrote it with GCWriter 1.3 and 2.0.0.alpha7
I cant see the changes in Word, since i did not use it to write the files, it dont show the changes. I'll search them myself then.
But I reconed that you did not find all the errors. well some work i have to do.

I did as Peace Phoenix suggested and changed the speed bonus from +3 to +30 in the political party file and it worked. Colony ships start with a speed of 5.
The only thing is that it shows up as +30 speed under the Party description. Minor problem though.
The party itself is great for the initial rush but after that you tend to cop a hammering due to the lack of military force (ie party negatives).
It didn't help that I turned evil and the good civs dominated the galaxy (can't pass on that +30% PQ)
All was well in the end when the Korx and I destroyed the Drath and Torians The game submitted okay.

A last test and the Pack can be submitted (with some changes to your version JJ)

The Pack has been submitted

The ships, techs, and improvements work great. Some of the starbase modules need to be fixed. The ID #s are sequential (0-55 for GalCiv/AP base, and 56-Bookend for yours) but the module Improved Mining still does not build. The only thing I could see is that you had it sized at +0 while all of the normal SB modules have +1 size or higher except for the Terror Star modules which are +0. I changed the value to size +1 for Improved Mining using GalCivWriter and it built correctly. Apparently all non-Terror Star modules must have a size of +1 or higher.

On the beta I managed to get the starbases working by changing the SB identifier number.
They were from 0-29 which clashed with the standard Galciv SB identifiers (0-57 I think). This made the new SB improvements unusable.
Once I changed them to 59+ (or 58+ cant remember)I had no problems. I did this using a word processor.

I already had the numbers sequential since I checked using the sort by ID# function in GalCivWriter. As I said, a simple fix of the size from +0 to +1 fixed the problem.

Update: For some reason, the Improved Mining only built after I changed size from 0 to +1.
I went back and tried building some of the other size 0
modules and they build fine. So size seems to matter only for this one particular module. Strange, must be glitch in programming or something. With so many possible modules that can be built on one starbase, there might be a rare conflict created from certain combo of modules.
Oh well the mod works great other than this particular glitch I had. [Repost from Library thread]

I have checked and the improved mining works fine for me in either size (0 or 1).
The rest of the mod pack seems to work okay although I have not gone to the end of the tech tree yet.

For some strange reason, I can't open the readme. Although, I think it really has to do with the fact I'm running Win 98 SE and I don't have anything else for viewing document files other than Wordpad, which won't open it.. it crashes, and the Winzip internal viewer complains with "text truncated at first binary zero".
This also goes for the Halut Pack's readme. Just a minor thing, though, although I haven't gotten around to trying either yet. (Just got GalCiv yesterday..)

Both are Word documents, I think thats the reason for your problem.
I use that because i assum everybody has Word or Staroffice and because i'm not able to build a good table with wordpad

I use 602Text which is a word type program. It is free although you have to register to get all the features.
I got in on the CD cover disk of a magazine but I imagine you could probably download it.

I downloaded Word Viewer, now it works.

Okay, I've not been able to play this through as my game got a little screwed over.. MODs I'm running include:
GoodEvilImprovementPack (also has techs)
Advanced Transports and Freighters
Cultural Capital
Religious Capital
Enhanced Terraforming
Expanded Invasion Strategies
Nidaros Event Pack
OmegaPack
For anyone who needs to know, the OmegaPack and GoodEvilImprovement pack conflict - Galactic Taxi Service has the same ID (30) as the Portable Crystal Computer.
That aside, I find the OmegaPack renders a lot of what was already in GalCiv redundant. Patrol ships, despite their somewhat limited range, are a million times better than Survey ships because of their speed and attack/defense and far cheaper. The Interceptor is insanely overpowered for a starting ship, rendering craft like the corvette and other GalCiv ships redundant.
I might edit my Omega Pack to drop down the patrol ship's abilities to attack 1, defense 1, speed 4.. or something.
Actually, until I find out how to have both my Galactic Taxi Service from the GoodEvil Pack AND the portable computers from Omega Pack, I'll have to skip on Omega :/
*someone let me know what ID to change it to, or how to find out! *pleads**

Use GalCivWriter to edit data files.

Finally downloading properly

I like the interceptor but I believe it should be limited to sectors which have your planets in.
A close to home starship should have way more firepower than one that has travelled far across the galaxy. This is for all ships at relatively the same tech level.
I also agree with the comments about the Patrol although the only thing I ever use them to attack is colony ships that are heading for a planet I have earmarked as mine.
I guess the beauty about Galciv is you edit the game into what you think should happen.

| Set the Taxi ID to 53 that should be save
I may reduce the range of the Interceptor and maybe even the Patrols abilites, if i get enought stuff to change.(three at the moment)
(Since my GCWriter is set to "auto-sort" the IDs I can't realy repair the ID issue (It don't occure on my system))

Anyhow, the Portable Crystal Computers are a TG and the Taxi is a Achievement, why they should exclude

Icho,
I downloaded your Omega Pack. Read the details for your Patrol party. You'll want to clean up the grammars. Otherwise, nice party. Just wish I could scroll down to see the rest of the stats.
