How to Edit Core Events/Bonus Mods in Altarian Prophecy???

I've been away from the game awhile, just got GalCiv AP.
In original GC, I made some modifications to Core Events and Bonus Events, no problems. Questions:
1) Will they work with AP as is?
2) If so, where to put them?
3) If not, can they be modified for AP? How?
Thanks!!!!

They'll work. Just put them in the AP mods data folder and turn on the mods in the pre-game menu (of course). Be carful with the STR file if you changed that, since AP has a slightly different one as I recall (could be mistaken... anyway, I cut/paste my changes into the AP version to avoid any possible issues). Use note pad to access the data files as before.

Thanks Chippoka, that worked.
Didn't change the STR file so no problem there.
Not an issue, but I'm still wondering where the Core Events and Bonus Events files for AP are locataed.

If it isn't in AP/data, then it is Galciv ones that are used . I don't think that events have been modified between GC and AP

Now what?!?! The mods worked yesterday, but don't today! I think I'm spending too much time on this (deleted) computer. Can I go home now? No, wait...

If it gets too screwy to get the mods to work all together (whatever), try this: remove all files from the GC Data folder (save them in a subfolder) and remove all files from the GC mod folder; next, use the AP mod folder for everything previously held by the GC data folder (files that weren't modified) + your mod files. It may solve some unclear issues; it did with me anyway. I just play AP at this point (I like the extra two new main AI players in it).... otherwise AP looks into the GC data folder and GC mod folder for certain files not in the AP data folder or AP mod folder.... I think it sometimes gets screwed up doing this when a lot of mods are in use; perhaps with some mods which may contain some elusive errors.
I'm beginning to think the game designers would be better off preventing modification to core files and game functions in the next edition; but, as an alternative, provide an extensive pre-game option menu to permit adjustment of various game variables (etc), much as was done with the old Reach For The Starsgame (the orginal 4x game that many said started the 4x concept or made popular the 4x concept in the early 1980s); and simplify any mod processes remaining so that such are "User friendly," especially adding new ship designs.

Chippoka, I'll try that - tomorrow! I'm totally wasted now (long day, etc.) and early bed look good.
I agree with your suggestion, but I doubt it will happen. Lots of folks like to play around inside the game. I didn't play the original RFTS but I have the re-make from a couple of years ago. Actually, Railroad Tycoon III has a VERY extensive set of pre-game options - the most I've ever seen. I think that game allows mods, too, but who needs it with the built in ability to adjust darn near anything and everything. Maybe Stardock could do both. No, I must be asleep already, 'cause I'm dreaming again. Later.

Yep, I remember the remake of RFTS... I think it was done for use on the PC, if I recall correctly. I tried it a few times, but the PC conversion sucked compared to the old Commodore 64 version; I loved that old game - we played that late into the night "hot-seat" many a time; great memories and good times.
Then there was Spaceward Ho! just afterwards for the PC. That was a truely new iteration of 4x; and a great "hot-seat" game as well for 2 verses 2. Did you ever try it or hear of it? We played that nearly as many times as RFTS. Ah, the good old days. I still have Spaceward Ho! on the PC. They released a Windows version about 8 years ago - but - it still isn't as good as MOOII, the best to date for user friendlyness, concept, and decent pace or rate of game play; be it SP or MP.

I didn't care much for RFTS2 either, but I never had it for my Commodore 64. That was a great computer for its day, IMHO. I've heard of Spaceward Ho! (by New World Computing, I think, the Might & Magic guys) but never played it. And yes, I love MOO2, still play it and the original, 'though I think Master of Magic is my all-time favorite PC game. I think I read where Stardock is going to do MOM2 - best news I've ever seen on the web, if true.
Back to business: neither GalCiv nor AP will play my event mods now. I tried your suggestion, didn't work. Best I can figure, the mods are too old or a patch screwed them, or both. I don't feel like reinstalling now; may try writing to Stardock's support folks. If something comes of that, I'll post it here.
Thanks for the help!!!

Well there's the more time consuming trouble-shooting method...
Remove all mods and add one mod file at time to see which file is screwing up, then check it close....
Best of Luck, Merry Christmas
