Hi all, I'm working on a new event, and I'm not sure if this is possible or not. Is there a way to assign multiple values to an event? For example, in the event I'm working on, I'd like the 'evil' choice to reduce the current planet's quality level while at the same time giving an econcomic boost. Is this possible to do, or am I restricted to only modifiying one attribute for each choice?

Thanks in advance for any help/info.

I believe the current event structure limits you 2 effects, 1 which is population change, the other you can choose.

Now, you can set population change to be zero, effectively creating only 1 effect, but you can't do as you would like, IOW have 2 effects without one of them being population change.

I was afraid of that. I was working on an 'ozone layer' event that basically went 'Scientists testing an unauthorized weather-control system, had a serious malfunction causing a massive release of CFC's into the atmosphere. This has caused a large hole in the planet's ozone layer that is growing at an alarming rate and could damage the planet as a whole.' Then the options were going to be something along the lines of:

(Good) 'Spare no expense in stopping the expansion of the hole.' (Slight planet quality penalty, Economic Charge)

(Neutral) 'Most of the damage should already be done, let's just ride it out.' (Slightly higher planet quality penalty than the good option)

(Evil) 'Let's not worry about the problem, let's capitalize on it. Send several shipments of oxygen masks to the planet, and be sure to charge the citizen's ten times what the masks are worth.' (Higher planet quality penalty than the neutral option, moderate economic boost)

Unfortunately, during a 'brain-storming' session a couple of nights ago, I came up with several event ideas that modified multiple attributes like this, before I realized there were limitations to the number of attributes that could be modified with each choice. Oh well, guess I'll have to come up with a few new ideas now. Thanks for the info HawaiiFive-0, and I'm looking forward to your 'event creation program' that you're working on.

No worries

The event system is certainly adequate, but there is definite room for improvement.

Multiple effects, chained events, more effects (other than civ/planet attributes), and more would be nice.

'Course, if StarDock revamps the events system I'll have to revamp my proggy, but such is life. It'd be a small price to pay for more flexibility.
