Ok, was playing around today and figured out all but 4 of the abilities a political party can modify. Got two questions:
1) Stardock, do you folks want that list public? (You can very EASILY cheat using a new political party!)
2) What do the following abilities mean:
Interest Rates. (I assume that means a lowering of interest rates charged to you).
Crime
Cabinet
Government

1)Um, no. The other devs and I are going to have to modify the political party code to allow only reasonable modding. Political parties aren't quite the same as ships and techs, which the AI can make better use of even if they're modded.
2) Interest rates affect lease. Crime and Cabinet aren't currently used to my knowledge. I don't know if the government ability is being used either.

GOOD! I was going to suggest that while I WILL miss making a party that has PQ of 200% (LMAO) I'd rather see them capped. Please cap the party itself though. This way, I can then go and select the extra race options I want. Maybe cap em to the same starting levels as you have choices for the race options.

|
Why cap them? If you don't modify them then they won't affect your game... if somebody else wants to try playing at 200% PQ or -50% research why not let them???

You may be just talking to yourself, but rest assured you are being listened to.
Might have to talk Political Parties after I wrap up UP Issues for my Writer.

Cool, that would go a long way in assisting me when I do Political Parties.
I think it's a nice feature that the Bonus does not have to equal the Penalty. That allows for some flexibility in governmental types, where there's a backlash when you lose power.
For instance, "Fascists" might offer a 35% Production bonus (the State is everything, the Individual is subsumed). However, if you lose power there's a "freedom" backlash that gives you a 45% Production penalty (the people turn away from the values the Fascist State adhered to).
Interesting option, I think.
I wonder what "OpposingParty" does?

*SIGH* IF You had noticed!!!! It was REQUESTED That this info NOT be public...
Sorry galciv devs, from now on I'll contact you folks directly with these kinds of sensitive items.
NEXT TIME A DEV ASKS THAT WE NOT PUBLISH THIS STUFF, PLEASE ABIDE BY THEIR REQUESTS!!!!!!!!!
P.S.
Thrull, a 500% PQ party REALLY REALLY unbalances the game! While it may be fun to MESS with... it's just not right. I HOPE that the devs are able to modify the metaverse to pick up on this VERY QUICKLY!!!!
P.P.S.
Devs, please delete my one submitted score. Hopefully it will provide you with all the data you need to detect a modified political party.

You wanna bet clockwise! Take a look at my score... guess what... THAT game was a modded party!
Oh and take a look at what Cari says:
I ask:
1) Stardock, do you folks want that list public? (You can very EASILY cheat using a new political party!)
Cari says:

See the first two words???? "Umm no"... GEEEEEEEE What does THAT TELL you???? MAYBE they don't want it listed?
| |
|
It's not so much the fact that we'll have to ignore games submitted with modded parties. We just need to make sure the AI smart enough to pick the best Political Party out of the bunch (Right now I think they're only picking from out of the 6 main parties). This way, even if a player makes a completely lopsided Political Party, the AI will take note and utilize that Party to their advantage as well. By the next major patch we should have this code in
| |
|
heheh Boogie.. that's EVIL... but I LIKE it.. I will say that I believe I noticed that the AI had noted the party was available and was using it cause I got a message once that said that the AI's controlling party "Cheat" (My name for it ) had lost power.
| |
|
hehe Then perhaps it's already working corrently We'll have to make sure it's foolproof though...lopsided PolParties is definatly one way to easilly boost your meta score.

|
wait so can we edit it now for ourselves and when the next mod comes out it will go away? so its jsut we cant let everyone know how to do it right?
