It'd be funny if someone modded the diplomacy bits to...

When you initiate diplomacy during a war you're winning:

"We have placed you in a quagmire from which you can never emerge except dead.”

"I speak better English than this villain Emperor %s"

"Our estimates are that none of you will come out alive unless you surrender to us quickly."

"I would like to clarify a simple fact here: How can you lay siege to a whole empire? Who is really under siege now? Antares cannot be besieged. Zeba cannot be besieged. Webes cannot be besieged."

"Faltering forces of infidels cannot just enter a country of %s billion people and lay besiege to them! They are the ones who will find themselves under siege. Therefore, in reality whatever this miserable Emperor %s has been saying, he was talking about his own forces. Now even the Terran command is under siege.

"Pah, the Terran warriors are not worthy of bullets, we will hit them with our shoes and show their cowardice to the galaxy."

"Your forces are committing suicide against the walls of %s. You can not win."

"Terrans in Arcturus?!? I tell you, this is a falsehood. Go and see for yourself."

Not much funny about war, but this guy was a laugh a minute, he'll be missed.

Rumors are he committed suicide, but this could be just his final act as the disinformation minister...

His name was Baghdad Bob, Chemical or even Comical Ali is referencing someone else. Besides they even have a Iraqi Info Minister talking doll for $39.95 I cant remember the website though

Brashin: Nope. Comical Ali was a wordplay off Chemical Ali. He was also called Baghdad Bob. He had many names, I preferred to refer to him as the Iraqi Disinformation Minister.

HawaiiFive-O: I know Chemical Ali was a General but he is not the same guy as the Iraqi Information Minister. Here are the 2 guys and Saheef (Iraqi Information Minister" is the one who is known as Baghdad Bob.

General Majid - a cousin of Saddam Hussein - is known as "Chemical Ali"

Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf has become the face and voice of Iraqi defiance. Iraq's information minister seems completely undaunted by U.S. and British advances,

Here's the thing.

I know they aren't the same guy too.

Some bright bulb in the press corps decided to make a pun off Chemical Ali, dubbing Al-Sahaf as Comical Ali.

Chemical, Comical. Get it?

Yes, I know there's no sign of Ali in Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf.

But when someone says Comical Ali, they mean Baghdad Bob, the Iraqi Disinformation Minister, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf.

When someone says Chemical Ali, they mean Iraqi General Ali Hassan al-Majid, the architect of the 1988 genocidal "Anfal" campaign against the Iraqi Kurds.

Ah got it now, just read what you were saying wrong. Anyway it would be a great idea

Twould be. I was going to take a stab at it, but I'm so busy with the Writer it's unlikely to happen before he fades from pop culture's collective conscious.

Looks like he got his 15 minutes and will soon be relegated to the dustbin of trivia- like Arthur "Scud Stud" Kent from GW1.

HawaiiFive-O, I hope to see some humor mods from you. That bit about "Not worthy of our..." etc was good.

Yes humor is most desirable. And it is the humourous aspects of GalCiv that make more like a peer than a dry if, and, or, but, machine.

If I am able I plan to do a humourous total conversion. And would welcome the ability to have a FILE like the EVENT files woth random responces to certain situations. The responces in the trade screens are very good. But the ability to add to there vocabulary and rep-ar-ta is something I would expect FrogBoy to produce in the next couple of months. At least i hope so. As for how the AI makes its decisions etc, I don't think we should monkey around with that. FrogBoy put a lot into it and if it needs changes he will be the one who should do it, and is doing it. I suspect if Stardock disappeared off the map, he would still be developing this game every secnd he could spare.

rustyblade, there is a file in the galciv directory that has a lot of the responses. i forget the name of it but it's in there. string.str? string.txt?

i just checked an old pst of mine: english.str

when you update it gets overwritten though, which puts a damper on things.
