What exactly are we supposed to do with this file from the library?

You put the file in the /Data/ directory of your Galactic Civilizations folder.

The new political parties will show up next time you run the game.

u can paste it into your data/ folder

PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED:
GalCiv's party list does not have a working scroll bar, and the list is sorted alphabetically, so by using my party pack you will lose some party options due to this, sorry
even some of my own parties are cut off like Rietous ones and War Mongers, they're too far down the list to be seen, and again, no working scrollbar

<-- bigshot3754, but i can't change my display name lol

you can use the scroll button on your mouse (if you have it) to see these other parties....although, i cannot see all the advantages/disadvantages for some of the parties...

yea sorry about that, but i was aiming for some slightly more complex parties

this is cuz the default ones already take up the very basic bonus schemes

None of the bonuses are being given to me when I choose one of your new parties. The game will also crash at the first election.

I really like the ideas behind some of your political parties, but if I may make a polite suggestion, maybe you could consider checking your spelling and punctuation. Seeing a party description riddled with spelling and grammar errors makes it look sloppy and half-finished, and makes me wary of trusting that party to run my government.

That and maybe don't make it so hard on the Activists. "Your party totally sucks" doesn't seem like it's really meant to inspire one to use that party...

problems with the party pack????

heres why!:

when i made it on my computer, i set the ID # low like at 9, 10, 11, 12 and such

but when i was going to upload it to the library, i thought "gee, someone else might just use these same numbers, and they will end up conflicting" so i made the ID # start at 3754 and go up

now, in the coreparty.party file, u have ID's 1-6, 7 and 8 are removed

i decided to start them at 9, when u leave a gap there, inbetween 6 and 9, there will be 2 empty party slots in the election screen

now, when i set the ID to 3754, i assume this created 3752 empty slots and crashed the game... ammongst other bugs like the bonuses not being given

i've fixed the first pack, i lowered the ID #'s, and i've started on the 2nd one

@dgswensen:
yea i know, i did somewhat rush them, and i wasn't taking it seriously at first, these were parties that i had used for myself at first lol

and yea, the activists can kiss my ass i know my bias shawn right thro there, but think about it, they get a PQ bonus lol! (btw, i lowered this down to 5% instead of 10%)

I tried the activists and I didn't seem to get the bonus. I'll try some others tomorrow, but someone else said they weren't getting the bonuses either...

The scroll bar problem doesn't seem to be tied with the parties'id range... Looking at the debug.err file, here's what I have every time I run the game :

Debug Message: MWinEditFields::Create - Unable to find scroll bar sizing graphic for PolPartyLB

This line should mean there's some bug preventing the Political scroll bar from working, isn't it ? ..

#11  by Veteran bigshotweb - 4/22/2003 10:25:48 PM

no, it has nothing to do with the party range lol, its cuz there are too many parties and they are sorted alphbetically, the ones with the earlier letters come first

the party ID numbers caused the game to crash :/

and yes, its a bug with the game, the scroll bar for the parties truely doesn't work!

I'll pass the new political parties for the time, as long as the "scroll bar bug" is not fixed.

Another possible problem : regarding elections, does the game allow more than 5-6 parties ? I'm not sure the election graphics won't crash if there is 10+ parties competing ...
