While GC runs fine on my 2Ghz Pc I would love to run it on my 600Mhz notebook while beeing on the road. The actual problem is neither the speed of the cpu nor the amount of memory it got (192MB), but the more than lacking amount of video ram (4MB). Since it is an AGP gfx card it "should" allocate enought memory from the main memory to make it work. well it doesn't... so i thought about lowering the amount of memory the game uses by modding it.....
So far i came up with removing/replaceing the .bik videos of the "first" events (they start to annoy me anyway), the videos of the rotating planets could be also replaced by static ones..... but thats about all I can think of that won't need modification of the actual binaeries of the game itself. So what I am asking is this: are there enought people who would want a mod like this. and how much support could one expect from the developers?

...Ummm, I thought that the 'base' download for GalCiv under SDC was without Multimedia. That means that the rotating planets and the bik videos aren't there, just the images. I would suggest investigating this as an alternative b4 u go long hours into the modding route.
