How do I do that? The AI already has that and I think that's a big advantage especially in small and medium galaxies.
Well it's more a disadvantage for me than an advantage for them.
I never know how many Colonyships I shall purchase. I had a game where I pumped out far too many end ended up with 7 too much!
If you have a strategic solution for my problem that would be nice! But I don't think it's too much of a cheat to give me that tech when all AI's have it. Besides the fact that it's unrealistic not to know the color of a star befor getting close to it!

Here's how you can do it:
1) Open the file GCTech.tech in NotePad.
2) Find the tech Stellar Cartography, it will look like so:
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
TECH 140 StellarCartography
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name "Stellar Cartography"
Model ""
Tech_Requirement "NanoElectronics"
Research_Cost 100
Description "Thanks to improved instrumentation, we can now better tell which nearby stars are likely to have inhabitable planets. Promising stars now show up with a lighter gray on the mini map."
Overview "This technology will allow us to distinguish yellow stars from other colored stars on the mini map."
Tech_Category 4
AI 1
ENDTECH
3) Eliminate the tech requirement by changing the line:
Tech_Requirement "NanoElectronics"
to:
Tech_Requirement ""
4) Lower the Research_Cost from 100 to 1 (so you can research it with minimal expense).
5) Save the file.
6) Every game, make sure you research this tech on the first turn of the game. This tech causes the yellow stars to show on the mini-map in a lighter shade.
That should do it. Don't know what effect this change will have on your Metaverse legality, if you are concerned with that I wouldn't do it.
Unrealistic to know in advance star color ?
Certainly not, we ALREADY know the color of all stars in a 100+ parsecs area I think, spectral light analysis is a 20th century technology !
BTW if we didn't know it we won't know either what colors exist !!!
thats already a tech to see it from the beginning you would have to have it like no tech requirement (but good idea ill make my self a mod for it right away
