I have created a varient on an existing unit, the Anti-Matter Missile. This "Mercury Missile" prototype replaces some of its explosive power with increased range and speed, making it on-par with a Star Fighter.

I was about to add it to the library, but I did a check on the original missile which revealed that the AI doesn't use missile attacks.

Are there any plans to change this? The current missile tends to be very powerful (but balanced) and is effective against most capital ships. I might suggest an AI weighting multiplier to make them appear a bit more often (similar to the one used in Technology trading).

Um I've seen the AI use missles against me not often but it has kinda confused me as I didn't think they could use them either but apparently his most powerful ship was a missle.

I've seen the AI use missiles. They aren't as sophisticated in their use as a human, though.

I too just saw the AI build AMM's under 1.03.057A. But their use is the same as that for regular ships, which makes them relatively easy to destroy en route to a target.

Maybe the devs can improve this area of the AI in an update.
