Anyone making a full mod?

I see several library events isolated, or idea of new techs/missiles etc., but no total change.
I'm considering making such a mod, kind of I totally redo the tech tree, ships, improvements... This requires swapping the Data directory, however, which is why I'd like a modswapper... I am not yet sure I'll do it, since I'm committed to coding another game in my spare time, but here's the idea:
Very limited range/speed to begin with, no range/speed picks available. This makes settling take much more time.
Very distinct speed ships (like speed 0-1, 4, 12).
A big turtle defender after battle axe/hammer.
With such a setting, you could focus on buildup in your initial sector, or research speed/range techs to expand, which would mean a lack of military/tech etc. in the start. Also, contact with other races would probably come later.

I have no less than 3 conversion ideas on the back burner
1 is for sure coming and is about 70-80% done. It's called Galactic UNCIVIL-izations. Won't say much about it yet... except it's more of a re-modification of the existing game... should make for some interesting gameplay [insert maniacal laugh and creepy Drengin organ music here]
The second has some IP issues so it won't be appearing here any time soon, but it will be made available for all on a seperate web site. It's a long time sci-fi space opera love of mine since I was a kid. I'll be less mysterious and give ya a hint here:
Drengin = Yazarians
Altarians = Vrusk
Torian = Dralasites
Yor = Mechanon
Arcaens = Sathar
Being as it's a conversion it will feature renamed ships, renamed techs, etc. but MOST of the gameplay will be identical to GalCiv to maintain play balance.
Have some of this done already - particularly in the race graphics area... probably won't change any of the core graphics such as the race icons, GUIs and such
The last project is a TBS idea that I have wanted to make since I played the original MOO back in 1994, but until now never found a game modifable enough to give it a shot. Right now it's under the working title of NeoNebula
(the name idea came from NeoJapan in Akira, Black Magic M66 and other anime, but unfortunately with the advent of the Matrix it sounds a lot less cool then it did back in 94 )
It has totally different ships, techs, everything... so yeah it fits the total conversion thing too. Dunno if this one will see the light of day, but I have piles upon piles of notes and ideas for it.

Thrull I love your ideas a lot. Especially your first one simply changing the Drengin ship colors to something other then green. Confusing when the Torians are around them.

I 'm personally working on a conversion mod based upon the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. I think that the idea would fit GC very well, and would be really fun to play. If anyone has read the series and wants to help, I'd really appreciate it. Luckily enough, there's some good information available online to use as reference sources.
