How do I add or change a tech?

I would like to add some more terraforming into my games by either adding a new tech or amending an existing one to allow an increase in planet quality. (Whichever is easiest).

Can this be done?

If so, how? (Please keep explanations, if any, very simple as I know very little about computers).

Any advice appreciated.

Can that. I just found an excellent summary by JavaScout elsewhere in this forum. Hopefully I will be able to follow those instructions successfully.

If you don't want to do it by hand, you can also use a program I wrote to edit the Tech files.

You can find it here:

Good luck!

HawaiiFive_O

I found your programme (it was me that left them drool marks all over it).

Trouble is I am not connected to the internet at home and your programme won't fit on a floppy disc for me to download at work then take home.

Hmmm...

I might be able to break up the install package, such that it would fit on 2 floppies.

I'll take a look at it tomorrow when I'm at work and I've got the computer lab's resources available.

For now you'll have to use Notepad.

It's good practice, though.

No, no, no. I would be embarrassed if were to go to so much trouble for one person. But thanks anyway.

It's no trouble at all. In fact, I've already done it. Visit the home page, under Latest Updates you will find the v.1.2.3 installation package in two floppy disk sized pieces.

Simply unpack the zips onto two disks and run Setup from Disk 1. You'll be prompted for Disk 2 at the proper time.

Have fun!

Thank you HawaiiFive-O.

I now have your Galciv writer on 2 discs. I can take it home and load it on my home computer now.

Umh, I wish Stardock would do this with their patches.

BTW I have posted an update on your Apolyton thread mentioning this two disc download is available.
