alien tech vs tech victory?

Hi, Maybe this seems like a stupid question and is answered somewhere in the game but I haven't found it yet. Having bought GC gold I noticed as well as Technological victory an additional victory condition called Alien tech victory has been added. What is the difference between the two?
I'd be thankful for any info or a pointer on where/how to find out.

AFAIK this enables the AI to go for technology win, too.

Without this flag the game doesn't end when the AI researches the final tech but it only disables your possibility to make a tech win.
