Well, I were playing GalCiv on my laptop last night as evil humans (took me a while to reach that alignment). The Altarians, the Torians, and the Arceans were all dead, and I had just blown up the last Drengin planet with a Terror Star.
Well, soon the Korx and the Drath directed their attention on the Yor. One of their worlds rebelled and defected to my side and after that the Yor surrendered to me. So at that point the Drath had the strongest military (20+ DREADNOUGHTS!) and I had to keep paying them 500 bc to keep them at warm whenever relations slipped down to cool. The Korx practically worshipped me, however, as I had close relations with them.
Now, the turn after the Yor surrendered, the track switches to Space_05 (The creepy one) and I pull up Foreign Relations to find that, by some defiance of logic, I am at war with the Korx. I blew up one of their worlds with the Terror Star and the turn after, the game crashed.
Now, I'm not too concerned about the game crashing - for all I care, I'm glad it crashed. The question is, how did relations with the Korx drop from Close to At War? I suspect the Drath paid them (Attack...Terran Empire). God, what a scary moment.

Well, come to think of it, I would have blown up all their worlds anyway, so it wouldn't have hurt me TOO much. God-awfully scary moment though. I guess it was the game's way of saying "HURRY UP AND WIN, DARNIT!".

Yep. What I love to do is on small universes load up a Terror Star with culture modules and fly it into other civs' sectors. Flying culturewin FTW.
