Those two issues takes a huge chunk out of the fun of playing GC/AP for me. Please fix them. As it is now, I often find myself wasting a lot of time fighting the UI, In stead of enjoying actually playing the game and fighting the AI.

Yes, it's the same for me. I can live with 1) but 2) really hurts. You can never be sure if you get a tech or nor

Bug I have with current AP.

Can't research techs that I have all the prereq's for. Hyper Warp specifically in my current game. I have researched Hyperspace and everything required to get to that, but can't research Hyper Warp. I've checked and it's not on the restricted list. Also it's not the first time I've seen this. In other GC games I've noticed that if I win techs from invasions then sometimes techs that should be available from them are not researchable.

Well some tech have alignements requirement. And hyper warp is one of those. It is a feature to allow some difference between good and evil. You may want to check the site referenced in the sticky javascout thread

I do not want anybody to take this wrong.

I am not asking anybody to fix this issue I only bring it up hoping it help for GCII.

What happens when I submit a game in several cases. The game does not go in the Metaverse or it over-rights a game submitted long ago.

Since games are being over Peace Pheonix suggested to me because I played so many games IDs are being randomly duplicated.

minor bug:
The cutscene for "Capital Ships - Warfare will never be the same..." comes up when the humans build their first Battleship, not their first capital ship. I built Death Knights first and didn't get the cutscene until my first Battleship was finished.

Hi ProudCanadian, this is not a bug, it's design . It was already reported some time ago. I guess they will make it different in GCII with ship models etc.

I usually never wast my time to build battleships and thus never get the cutscene. But I don't miss it though

I never got any word back about the bug I found about trading merchandises with other races but not receiving them or the bonuses for them.

I never got any word back about the bug I found about trading merchandises with other races but not receiving them or the bonuses for them.

Could you explain a bit, please?

if you are referening to Trade Goods, you must know the following:
- only the race that have build a Trade Goods can sell a license to other race
- once the license is acquired, it is for the rest of the game
- in the diplomatic screen, only Trade goods that are build by one race and whose license isn't yet bougth by the other race appears
- the bonus are empire wide bonus. So it appears on the statistic screen (F4). But it is added to all others empire wide bonus, linked to pol party, picks, tech, wonder or Galactic ressources. I am not sure if the bonus is added in the same turn that the Tg is acquired or if you must wait the next turn to have it taking effect.

Not exactly a bug per se...
There is no ability to select gender of your leader. It sounds really strange to be called Lord Sarah, or Emporer Sarah, or Sarah blah blah his blah blah. Obviously not worth adding into GC1/AP, but a must fix for GC2.

In the meantime you could perhaps change the texts of the events with GalCiv Writer or the Editor/Notepad. Simply open the *.event-files in your GalCiv/Data Folder and change the Texts (but make a backup copy of those files for emergency).

An excellent suggestion Amaymon. I was pondering looking for those bits of information in the near future, but you have pointed me straight to them.

Thanks

When I play a saved game it crashes back to Windows after awhile. There seems to be no set time it will crash, nor any particular event. It did it with the original and the upgrade added. If I don't save, the game keeps playing on and on until I stop without a crash. I have tried the things listed.

I'm running it on a Dell Dimension 8250 3.06Ghz W/HT running Windows XP SP2. 512 MB Ram, 256MB NVidia 6800 video card. Soudblaster Live sound card.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

GC and AP repeatedly crashes on colonization events. I'm unable to play either game for more than 5 minutes straight.

GC2 also crashes, but shows no map, so I don't know what event occurs prior to the game crashing.

I've got the latest video drivers and DirectX 9.0c installed. The debugg.err files don't provide any clues on these crashes (which is unusual) and the "submit exception report" takes me to a page with nothing in/on it but the following:

Help!

Can you set up the metaverse to accept submitted games that are played on the gigantic balanced custom map? It won't accept any games no mater what options you add or leave out. I enjoy playing the map but it is very counter-productive in my quest to make the top 10 on the metaverse. I would like to see if i can submit a 60,000 score on this map as i have done it on almost all the others.

You can't submit custom map to the metaverse.

Playing Version 1.20, already in turn Nr. 2 I could figure out the starting sectors of the all the major civs WITHOUT cheating or disclosuring the map before. I donīt want to tell exactly how I did that but it should be too obvious...

Has this bug been fixed with AP or later versions ?

Using the F8 key?

Not sure if it is considered as a bug.

What does f8 do ? Generally I use the screen buttons and click via mouse.

#69  by Diplomat Peace Phoenix - 4/21/2005 7:27:29 AM

F8 allow you to see the detailled influence in a particular sector, even on sectors that haven't be explored

Then weīre talking about the same function (I press the top little 4-colored button for details.)

But this is more than just an "advantage", isnīt it? Well, I now can see that the Yor are the perfect ones to trade with, and can plan further strategies as I see Drengin and Altarians the nearest to my home sector. Itīs not the thing that I must complain but... somehow... difficulties less difficult... MASO loses the sense of horror this way... thinking it could even may be fun to play MASO this way, though it should be masochistic and therefore give you the feeling of a well-placed kick on your knee-cap every single turn.

the colored map don't work very well in the beginning of gigantic map

Sure it is on gigantic. You have to click a lot, but actually you could find out where the >100 influencers are Guess itīs about to make up for the slightly reduced "real" difficulty (of course you still need the skills to compete MASO, I ainīt yet... īcause Iīm still a small bug... but Iīm growing fast haha ! )

YES, I know there is another much simplier way to get the same result, but that one is not a bug

I've noticed that neutral AI civs can build Paladins, even though the player cannot.

Playing AP (latest version).

Are you sure that the AI civ is neutral and not good?

Even if it is neutral though, I think that it might be possible that the civ in question had the Paladins given or sold to them.
